Merlin’s Indiana Jones sticker collection

Welcome to the world of collectible stickers. I somehow thought collecting stickers is a long gone hobby from my childhood. I was wrong. Merlin Stickers (part of Topps) has released an Indiana Jones sticker collection:
For the collection you get a 48 pages album (for 3.- Euros) and get to buy sticker packs with 6 random stickers (0,50 Euros per pack). There are 240 different stickers to get. Most stickers have a size of 5 x 8.5 cm, fewer are 6 x 8.5 cm. Even fewer are 6 x 8.5 cm printed on metallic foil. Interesting bit: The sticker packs are in English, so I guess they sell the same packs all over Europe, while the album is in German (so I guess they made versions for all countries where they sell it). Another interesting bit: The story (flavor text) told in the album is a cut down version of the film. They do neither tell about the relationship between Indy and Mutt nor about the ending (they just enter the temple and then everything gets destroyed in a cyclone.

If you collect these stickers and want to trade some, please contact me!

Indy 4 & IJC.at

It's a week since Indy's latest adventure hit the big screen and I guess everybody has seen it by now. I watched it twice and it's a great Indy adventure. Welcome back Dr. Jones!

Last week IJC.at ran into some server troubles that forced me to move the site. While this was the worst time for a site downtime to happen, I think the outcome is a gain for the site. On the new hosting place I have lots of fancy web toys I can use to enhance the site.

One request if you have put a link to IJC.at on your website: Please update the link! All pages are now available with a IJC.at address! Thank you!

mixed bag of Indy goodies

I have a mixed bag of Indy goodies to show today. Let's start with some free giveaways available in the cinemas right now. I made all my friends to grab some, so I have a bunch of copies at home:
  • Indy 4 postcards
  • Indy 4 book marks
  • The Austrian Skip magazine (free but readable movie mag)

Today my copy of the Indy board game by Clementoni arrived from Germany. It's bigger than I thought, 42 x 29 x 6 cm. I took a quick picture and labeled all the parts:

The company I bought the game from was actually thinking ahead. They included a flyer for the Top Trumps Special: Indiana Jones The Complete Adventures in the box. Yeah, something new to look for.
And finally back in the cinema (on the left you can see the counter). They have a nice cardboard display, about 2.5 m high, standing there now. (No, they won't give it to me...)

Indy challenge with 10.000 $ tropy

There is an real life Indiana Jones challenge going on, featuring a 10.000 $ trophy for the winner.

17 countries are sending a contestant to Morocco in October 2008. They will get a week of adventures, quests and challenges, searching for a crystal skull. The winner will get a trophy worth 10.000 $. I found this in an Austria movie magazine which has a contest for being the Austrian guy to join the challenge. To sign up you have to be male, 18+, healthy and able to speak English. Take a peek on the contest here: http://www.skip.at/promo/25/

I do not know which magazines/companies feature this challenge in the other 16 participating countries (heck, I do not even know which 16 countries will get it). But you might wanna start looking c|:)

No Indy ice cream for Austria

In Italy I saw two Indy ice creams, Germany got at least one but I could not find any here in Austria. So I ended up writing to Nestlé (= Schöller, the name of their ice cream brand) for some answers. And I got one:

Sehr geehrter Herr Krasny -

If you can't read German, they just mocked me by telling me to be happy with the great Hello Kitty cup that they have added to their goods.

Here is my reply: Fuck you, Nestlé! If you think anyone waited 19 years for a Hello Kitty cup or some soccer championship crap then your marketing guys are even worse than your products. At least I don't feel bad for never buying your lousy ice cream.

Here is another shot from what we not got: The Indy movie cup with vanilla/cacao ice cream, each coming with one of seven collectible figures. I am developing an growing urge for a short trip to Italy to buy some ... ("short" is a relative term, it's a four hours drive to Italy)
